  6. There are many Software Packages on Aminet without any
  7. Installer although Commodore developed the Installer
  8. tool which provides an easy-to-use graphical user interface
  9. with powerful functions.
  10.  
  11. But many people complained that they were too lazy or it
  12. would be too hard to create a script for the Commodore
  13. Installer.
  14.  
  15. This time is over now. NewInstaller allows everyone to
  16. include a script in his Software Package for the famous Commodore
  17. Installer. But no - you need not to edit it - NewInstaller does
  18. all automatically.

  20. The only thing you need to do is including an install icon
  21. in your Software Package with default tool NewInstaller.
  22. Additionally you can change many things in the Tooltypes to
  23. let the script created like you want it!

  25. NewInstaller is an intelligent program with powerful
  26. features. Here are some:
  27.  
  28. * Multi language: Your Installer appears in the user`s mother tongue
  29.                   because of the locale.library support and the more
  30.                   than 10 supplied catalogs
  31.  
  32. * Update function: NewInstaller keeps every Software installed with
  33.                    full path and version in mind
  34.            
  35. * Intelligent handling: If no name, author and version specified in
  36.                         the Tooltypes NewInstaller
  37.                         tries to figure them out                           
  38.   
  39. * Recognizing of many types: NewInstaller recognizes many filetypes.
  40.                              For example: Executables, docs, libs, fonts,
  41.                              ARexx scripts, MUI files, Prefs....
  42.                              So if there is a Fonts drawer for example
  43.                              NewInstaller will tell the user that
  44.                              the program needs XXX.font in FONTS: and so on...
  45.  
  46. * Assign support: You can specify assigns in the Tooltypes which
  47.                   shall be added in S:User-Startup
  48.   
  49. * Unarchive support: LHA and LZX archives will be unarchived and the user
  50.                      can select the files from the archive he wants. This
  51.                      option can be turned off in the Tooltypes.
  52.                      Then the archives will only be copied
  53.  
  54. * Confirm all operations: NewInstaller tells the user every operation before
  55.                           he does it so the user has to confirm the operation
  56.                           or skip it etc. This can be turned off in the
  57.                           Tooltypes
  58.  
  59. * Execute support: NewInstaller can launch executables/batch files at any
  60.                    position in the installation procedure
  61.  
  62. That were only some of NewInstaller`s powerful features. Many things can be
  63. changed in the Tooltypes.
  64.  
  65. Some demos that show some features of NewInstaller are included of course.
  66. But you need to install NewInstaller first, before you can watch them!

  68. There`s more to come! In one of the next versions the "NewInstaller Engine"
  69. support will be added...Then there`ll be several install engines available
  70. like a MUI install engine or a GFX install engine (an engine that lets the
  71. installation look like the cool PC/MAC installations). Of course you can
  72. develop your own engines then too. I`m looking for graphicians and musicians
  73. for the upcoming GFX install engine. A bright future is coming.

  81. I decided to release NewInstaller as Shareware. The registration fee
  82. is 20 DM or $15US-Dollars. Developers who use NewInstaller in their
  83. Software Package can gain a free keyfile.
